ATTENDANCE POLICY

ATTENDANCE/ABSCENCE POLICY PROCEDURE

Regular attendance is important and students should not be absent unless they are sick or absolutely necessary. When an absence does occur, notify your child's teacher or call the school office at:

(808) 266-7818 after 7:30 AM

State reason for the absence. After two consecutive absences, someone from the school will contact the parent/guardian to verify absences.

Per request, make-up work will be available by the end of the next day.

The Compulsory Education Law requires the school to monitor nonattendance and by law requires the school to monitor nonattendance. By law, the school is required to send a letter to Family Court if absences are excessive.

15 or more absences are considered "chronically absent."

TARDINESS

If your child reports to school after 7:50 AM, he/she is tardy and should report to the office to get a tardy slip. A child will be marked absent if he/she arrives at school after 11:00 AM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. And 10:30 AM on Wednesday.

EARLY RELEASE BY PARENTS

When taking your child out during the school day for doctor/dental appointments, etc. which cannot be done outside of school hours, please send a note with your child or call the office in the morning. If a child leaves before 11:00 AM and does not return on that day, he/she will be marked absent. Report to the school office to sign the Off Campus Release Log before taking your child from school. A pass will be issued to identify any student who is excused to leave school early.
